He rises early, commutes four hours, adds sunshine to any room and always gives 1000 percent. We all need more Richard in our lives.
When BrewHub’s Chelsea Tahau first met Richard Crookall, who was interviewing for a valet role in Sydney, she knew she’d found someone special.
“Richard had taken two buses and a train to reach us, turned up 30 minutes early and was dressed in a suit and tie. He was keen, determined and ready to give his all,” she recalls.
Though the interview was back in 2018, Richard remembers it like it was yesterday. He laughs as he recalls that he had misread the job advert and thought he was applying for a job in a coffee shop.
“When Chelsea described who BrewHub was and what they did, I thought, ‘hang on, this doesn’t sound like a coffee shop’,” he quips.
“But I was intrigued by the whole concept and the more I listened, the more I knew I’d be a good fit and had the skills and work ethic to make it work.”
It has, indeed, been a match made in workplace experience heaven. Richard has been a valet with BrewHub for over six years now, working for global powerhouses such as PwC, Accenture and KPMG. He thrives in his role, vigilantly topping up milk, coffee beans, chocolate and chai, stocking tea bags and biscuits, ordering stock and religiously giving coffee machines an exceptional clean so they’re brewing at their best. But that’s not all he does.
“Richard is one of our biggest assets,” says Sophie Shandley, NSW Client Service Manager.
“He takes so much pride in his day-to-day work and gives exceptional service to his clients. He has an amazing ability to take the initiative at sites and recommend ways that might benefit others.”
Clients regularly feed back to Sophie how impressed they are by his fantastic work ethic and friendly and infectious nature, and how he brightens the day of almost everyone he meets. It’s no surprise to Chelsea, who saw that special something in their first meeting. In Chelsea’s words;
“Richard is one of the most committed and loyal valets we’ve ever had, He not only shows up, he cares deeply and strives to make a difference every day. People like Richard form the beating heart of what we do here at BrewHub.”
